Be A Change Agent

If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it. ~Mary Engelbreit

The entire world is talking of change. Change is a symbol of growth, a symbol of hope and optimism. An indication that the way things have been going will change their course, for the better or for the worst.

What does change mean to us as the youth, the future leaders of this country?

Does it mean talking of big things in big debates or does it mean making huge promises and forgetting them as we move forward to bigger things in life.?

How many of us, actually think of things like change and the future of our country? We belonging to a generation of people who are fast paced and selfish, Do we have time to STOP and THINK about where this world, our country, out city, our peers or even we are heading to?

What does it mean to the US, to be a change Agent?

Does change really have to be measured by magnitude? If I change one person’s way of thinking? Am I a less of a change agent?

So many questions. Unlimited answers.Unlimited opinions.

But there were a bunch of students way back in the 1947, who thought of this, who took time and understood these questions and started a quest, to look for answers, which they found, not through looking up books in libraries, not by discussing it and talking, but BY BEING Change Agents Themselves.

Thus was founded the beautiful concept of AIESEC.

AIESEC is a place where people bring about change. Not by preaching it, but by living it. When we talk of change, we not only talk of change that we want to bring about in the social factors that effect the society like child rights, or animal rights, or women empowerment, We talk of change that is much beyond this. We as the youth of our nation realize that change does not start by cleaning up a village, or by holding a rally. Change needs to be initiated from within, The first change that needs to occur is not in the form of action but in thought.

Lets talk of a change AIESECers are consistently trying to make, that is not visible.A change of a mindset , a change of a personality.

How do we do this? By giving people an opportunity to introspect to where they stand in this fast paced word. To experience culture and diversity, to evolve as a human beings. Most importantly, to be open to change.

By giving them a power packed internship experience, in a new city, in a new country, where they learn to be independent which is nothing but a glimpse of what the future has in store for them, we give young individuals, an opportunity to develop themselves and hence be able to be understand what change means and make more responsible and better change agents.

Whether you change the world, a country , a city, a bunch of people or an individual , you are doing your bit as the youth. Be it one or hundred people that you change, change stands for what it is.

If we don't change , we don't grow. If we don't grow , we aren't really living.

Be a Change Agent.
